I love a good smoothie. Sometimes you just can't beat chucking a heap of fruit and veggies into a blender to be rewarded with a marvelous taste sensation.
I normally have a smoothie at breakfast time (as or with breakfast - depending on how hungry I'm feeling) or as a morning snack. Too much fruit in the afternoon is not a good idea, all that good sugar will have you buzzing through the night. Try to keep smoothies or juices to a morning time treat.
I've been mixing up different fruit varieties for a while and have got 5 smoothie for you today that I think you'll enjoy.
Breakfast Smoothie
1 banana
1tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1tbsp honey
50g oats
250ml milk of your choice
Put everything in a blender and blitz until smooth. (Easy this smoothie lark ey?)
All The Berries Smoothie
50g strawberries
50g blueberries
50g raspberries
1/2 frozen banana
50g natural yoghurt
50ml water
Put everything in a blender and blitz until smooth.
Green Machine Smoothie
1 apple cored and peeled
1 pear cored and peeled
25g cucumber
50g spinach
50g natural yoghurt
50ml water
Juice of 1/2 a lime
Put the apple, pear and cucumber into the blender with the water and blitz until smooth.
Add the spinach, yoghurt and lime and repeat.
Tip. With ingredients that need to be juicier i.e. apple, orange etc. add them to the blender first with water.
Tropical Twist Smoothie
1/4 pineapple cubed
1/2 mango
1 peach (stoned)
50ml coconut water
50g coconut yoghurt
Put everything in a blender and blitz until smooth.
Detox Smoothie
1/4 pineapple cubed
1 tsp of ginger
50g blueberries
50g kale
50ml water
50g greek yoghurt
Put everything in a blender and blitz until smooth.
These recipes are so simple and easy and all packed full of good fruit and veggies meaning you will get some of your 5 a day in without having to think about it too much. Unlike juices, smoothies don't take out all the good fibrous stuff so these recipes are bound to keep you going through the morning.
