#GOMO

#GOMO

Everyone, say goodbye to FOMO and hello to GOMO. For those who are unsure FOMO stands for 'Fear of Missing Out' and was doing the social media rounds last year in regards to people missing out on fun events that other people were attending i.e. 'Wish I was going to Glastonbury #FOMO.' Or something along those cool kid lines that I definitely can't pull off.

Instead of FOMO, this year Eventbrite are pushing the idea of GOMO or 'Going Out More Often'. The ideas is that instead of staying in and feeling let out of something, to go out and create your own fun and try to get involved, or create, more events. Pop-up restaurants, Fandom events and music events are were most people have been getting involved in #GOMO but there are more options.

If you've been reading this blog for a while you will know that I love going out and experiencing new things and after two years travelling around Australia that's exactly what I'll be doing this year in my own country, the UK. I'm so lucky that there's so much to do and see where I live in Sussex and I haven't really seen that much of it. Travelling for a while makes you realise that and Jack and I decided we'd make a real effort this year to see more of it.

We've got a couple of trips planned. The first is a trip to Herefordshire for the Three Counties Show. Country shows are a really great way to get out and experience. Apart from your ticket you don't really have to spend any money if you don't want to so they can also be a cheap option. Jack and I are staying in Teweksbury for the weekend though and are hoping to do a bit of extra exploring. We're also planning a week's trip to Cornwall in the Summer for more exploring.

You don't have to go on any long trips though to get out more. During the summer months there's plenty going on up and down the country. Obviously there's music festivals but if you can't get to one of the big ones have a look online for local music events in your area. Even if chart toppers aren't going to be gracing the stage music events are a great to spend a summers day. Relaxing in the sun, with a cold drink and live music. Bliss.

However, if that's not your scene food and drink festivals are also a great way to enjoy the summer and with lots of free tasters you probably won't even need lunch.

If you don't think there's anything going on in your area where people can take advantage of #GOMO, or think there's something missing why not organise your own event. A cooking class, a festival or a yoga workshop. Whatever you want to do check out Eventbrites system to help organise it and sell tickets the software is great to help with every step of planning your event. You can post your event, sell tickets and track how many people are coming.

So what are you going to do to #GOMO this summer? Let me know.

Until next time,
