Thought of the week #19

thought of the week, motivational monday

How many times have you said you're busy and what you mean by that is your busy not really doing anything? When you're busy try to be busy doing things not just getting caught up in being flustered about all the things you want to get done. Writing a list and checking things of when you've done help with this. Being busy by being productive is the best way to be busy and you'll find you're feel way more achievement that way.

The perfect everyday bag

The perfect everyday handbag

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm OBSESSED with handbags. I'm addicted. I can't walk past a handbag I like without picking it up. However, practicality doesn't come into the equation very often and therefore I have bought so many gorgeous handbags that I've over stuffed for work and they've ended up breaking. I decided enough was enough and went on the hunt for the perfect everyday handbag that I could fit everything in without it straining the bag or me.

Thought of the week #18

thought of the week, motivational Monday,

Take a deep breath. Feel better? Sometimes that's all you need. When you're feeling stressed or overwhelmed just stop for a minute take a deep breath, reevaluate the stressful situation and start again with a clear mind and positive headspace. Try it this week when you're overwhelmed with housework, or your to do list is getting a little long or whatever it is. Take a breath and start again.

The Marble Collector | Review

Just a quick side note to begin. The photo for the post was obviously taken a little while ago when  I first picked up the book but I really like the picture so decided to use it. So no we haven't still got mince pies around the house in May, although I wish we did.

Exam and Revision tips

revision and exam tips
I have sat a fair few exams in my time. SATs, GCSEs, AS and A-Levels and my journalism exams. Therefore, I've also done A LOT of revision and finally realised there's a few things you can do to make revision, and therefore exams, a little less stressful. As we are currently in exam period here in the UK I thought I'd share a few of those with you so maybe they might help you feel a little better about the whole exam and revision thing.

Thought of the week #17

motivational monday, thought of the week,

The most important thing is to be happy in everything and with everything you do and are doing. If you're not happy stop, think about it and decide what you can do to be happy. Sometimes it's not as easy as to stop immediately whatever it is that is making you unhappy. Sometimes it's something you have to work towards and set goals for. So do that set goals and feel happy in knowing that you're working towards whatever it is that you feel will make you happy.

Discover the NT: Uluru and Kata Tjuta

Northern Territory Uluru
Uluru up close and personal
If there's one place in the Northern Territory, in fact in Australia, that you have to go it's Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Also known as Ayers Rock and the Olgas, Uluru is an iconic Australia landmark and the fact it's not man made make's it even more incredible.

Recipe: Fish Chowder

Fish chowder always sounded pretty gross to me. Fish stew? Eugh. However, my mum ordered it at a restaurant recently and hasn't stopped raving about it since. I decided I'd have a go at making one myself and seeing what all the fuss was about.

Thought of the week #16

Thought of the week, motivational monday

New Year, New Start? New Month, New Start? New Week, New Start? How about New Day, New Start? We tend to think of the first day of the month or week as the time to start fresh and try again. But do that and before you know it the year is up and you haven't achieved what you wanted to. This week when Monday or Tuesday or whatever day doesn't go entirely plan, move the plan over to the next day. Whether it's the workout plan you wanted to start, the book you wanted to finish or the trip you wanted to plan. Whatever it is tomorrow is a fresh day and a fresh start and you haven't failed.

Until next time,

#GOMO

#GOMO

Everyone, say goodbye to FOMO and hello to GOMO. For those who are unsure FOMO stands for 'Fear of Missing Out' and was doing the social media rounds last year in regards to people missing out on fun events that other people were attending i.e. 'Wish I was going to Glastonbury #FOMO.' Or something along those cool kid lines that I definitely can't pull off.

Hello May

Hello May

May is here and that means we are officially one month away from Summer.

April was a lovely month. Spring showed its face on the odd occasion and when it did it was nice. It definitely gave me a taste for the summer weather that will hopefully not be too far around the corner. I finally bought a scrap book for our Australia photos so Jack and I have spent many an evening trawling through them to find the best ones that we want to print and stick in the book. We've still got quite a few to get through so getting around to the actual putting together of the book may be a little while away yet.

I've also finally got my organisation together. I've sorted out my Kikki K planner at last (blog post coming soon), I'm about a week ahead with blog posts (actually writing this on 25th April shh), and I've got into making a list at the beginning of the week and working my way through it. It's been great for feeling less stressed and anxious and for actually being productive. (Possible blog post coming soon).

But now it's May so what do I have planned for May.

We have a couple of bank holidays here in the UK this month so I'll definitely be taking full advantage of those and hopefully we'll be able to make a couple of day trips somewhere. I love to get out as much as possible in the warmer months and enjoy the sunny days when we get them, because let's be honest we don't get many in the UK. There's plenty of places in the UK to go and visit and after spending two years travelling another country I really want to see as much of my own country as possible.

I did get round to getting back into a workout routine and somehow or another agreed to a 10k run so training for that is underway. This month will really be the month I step up my game in that department and start making progress.

So that's the plan for this month, I think mainly to relax and not set too many unrealistic goals but jsut keep going.

What have you got planned for this month?

Thought of the week #15

Thought of the week, motivational monday

Comparing ourselves and everything else we do to others is something that seems to come quite naturally. We talk about what we like about other people and normally whilst doing that something along the lines of 'I wish I...' also gets said. Instead of doing that try admiring what others are doing and also admire that you are doing something great but different. Just because its different doesn't mean its not as good. Realising that everyone is different and therefore how we do things, what things we look good in, and things we want to do are different will make you feel a lot better about what you're doing. So give it a try this week and see how much better you feel in yourself.

Until next time,
